The fifth and final stage of Drei Länder Tour...
... 190 kilometers from Nürtingen to Bad Dürrheim brought no changes in the top of the general classification. Jens Voigt finished second overall, while Fränk Schleck and Luke Roberts also made the top-10.
Roberts was part of a break during the final stage but was unable to keep up, when the group was split. He finished ninth in the stage 48 seconds behind winner Marcus Burghardt (T-Mobile), but more than 3½ minutes ahead of the peloton.
Roberts improved to an overall ninth place while Schleck finished fourth. Overall winner was Thomas Dekker of Rabobank.
"It was impossible for Voigt and Schleck to do anything, because Dekker and Michael Boogerd were watching them constantly. So we decided to attack with some of our other riders. Luke did well and made the decisive break, but unfortunately he wasn't strong enough to keep up, when the group was split," said Team CSC sports director Scott Sunderland.
Team CSC also took part in Sunday's Grand Prix d'Isberques, but never came close to a victory. Martin Elmiger (ag2r) and Andy Cappelle (Landbouwkrediet) escaped from the peloton and took first and second place.
"This was more or less preparation for the upcoming World Championships. If Matti Breschel had been in the first group we would have prepared the sprint for him, but when the two riders escaped, we took it fairly easy," said sports director Alain Gallopin.
